Sarah Mehenni
is a PhD student working on the role of extracellular vesicles in the metastatic tropism of breast cancer, under the supervision of Pr. Christophe Lefebvre. She began her PhD after completing a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, specializing in Omics and Systems Biology, which provided her with a solid foundation in omics data analysis, particularly in proteomics and mass spectrometry. Additionally, with a Master’s degree in Health and Biology, specializing in Fundamental and Clinical Oncology, she further developed her expertise in cancer biology.
Passionate about extracellular vesicles (EVs), she has gained significant experience in studying these vesicles, particularly through her internships, where she mastered isolation techniques and other methods for their analysis. Her PhD research combines her knowledge of proteomics, cancer biology, and extracellular vesicles. She is focused on the characterization of the EVs surfaceome with the goal of understanding the mechanisms involved in conditioning a premetastatic niche. Ultimately, her findings aim to guide new therapeutic strategies targeting the surfaceomes of EVs and/or cells, to interfere with the metastatic process in the brain.
