European Master in Translational Neurosciences (EMTN)

The European Master in Translational Neurosciences is in the European Graduate Neuroscience School The European Master in Translational Neuroscience (EMTN) is planned as an international research training program in cellular, molecular and systemic neuroscience with the major focus on the translation of basic research to clinical applications. The curriculum is geared to students with a BSc degree in life sciences or natural sciences and prepares them for academic and industry related careers in biomedical research of the nervous system.

The European Master in Translational Neuroscience consists of a two-year curriculum (120 European credits, ECTS) designed as a multi-disciplinary and international program with a focus on translational research. The two-year curriculum (120 ECTS) consists of ten consecutive modules, four methodological courses, a short (6 weeks) and a long (36 weeks) research internship. While the modules are taught at Maastricht University, students spend their six weeks research elective and the master thesis at laboratories of the different partner universities.

European Graduate Neuroscience School

EURON is a research and training network of eleven universities in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. This collaborative network started in 1995 and has continuously expanded since then. The establishment of EURON resulted in successful application as a Marie Curie Early Training Site in the 5th and 6th Frame Work Program of the European Commission. As an established training site EURON has invested in an extensive international educational PhD program that offers opportunities for PhD students to be trained in different laboratories of the academic partners. EURON also organizes PhD courses and workshops that reflect the expertise of the different EURON partners. The scientific collaboration between partner universities is evidenced by joint publications and joint PhD degrees. The educational program of EURON is officially recognized in the member countries. In addition, EURON partner universities commit themselves to meet future challenges in the field of neuroscience education by the realization of a joint Master program : European Master’s Degree in Translational Neuroscience (EMN). EURON partners aim to share expertise, knowledge and infrastructure to offer Master and PhD students a unique chance to broaden their research competencies and by stimulating mobility. In addition, EURON strives towards joint PhD degrees between partner universities and towards the accreditation of a joint Master program in Neuroscience.
